3-year-old girl can read, do sums and sing English songs
VietNamNet Bridge – Tran Thi Phuong Vy, 3, in the central province of Ha Tinh, has emerged as a prodigy because she can read, do sums and sing English songs though she was not taught by anyone.

Vy is reading newspaper.

VietNamNet's correspondents went to Ha Tinh to see the special kid.

The kid's mother, Ms. Tran Thi Tuyen, said that Vy was born on December 14, 2008, so she is only three years and three month old.

"I'm her mother but I do not know why she has such strange abilities. She could do sums, read and even sing English songs when she was only three," Ms. Tuyen said.

"She is now at the kindergarten. You can wait to see her because the school is nearly over," she added.

VietNamNet's correspondents went to the Hoa Hai kindergarten to see the special kid. Vy's teacher also said that Vy has special abilities. She said that she has never known any kid which is as special as Vy.

To test the kid, correspondents gave her a newspaper. She was a little shy but when the teacher told her "Could you read it for me?" The kid began reading naturally and clearly.

Correspondents continued testing Vy's ability in doing sums. The little girl quickly and accurately completed multiplications, additions and subtractions. She also knew many songs, most of them being English songs, such as "Five Little Ducks," "I'm Spider," "Happy New Year," etc. and sang them very well.

Vy's mother said that Vy was very strange at birth. Vy did not cry when she was born. When she was five months old, the baby did not crawl but stood up straight and walked.

At the age of two, she could mumble words on fertilizer bags or big words on the parallel sentences at home. It is very strange that she could read by herself, not being taught by anyone.

Vy's neighbor, Mr. Nguyen Van Lap, also said that Vy could read at the age of two. "This is the first kid with special ability that I've seen in my life," Lap said.

According to neighbors, Vy's mother is a mental patient. Vy's father is unknown. The mother is very poor so neighbors have to contribute money to send Vy to school.
